Representative Experience

Freedom Walk, Crestview - Working with a private developer, DAG developed a master plan for a community that would cater to the military and armed services men and women who are stationed at nearby Eglin Air Force Base and Duke Field.  The program focuses on a traditional neighborhood design that will include retail components, multifamily housing, and a YMCA.   A system of sidewalks and trails links the community to a middle school and a high school, a connection vital to the development’s success with families. Pocket parks, strategically located throughout the development, will also contribute to the sense of community and neighborhood.

WaterColor Fire Station - The fire station in WaterColor blends in with the unique architectural style of this Gulf Coast community.  DAG worked to meet the technical and budget requirements of the fire district, while at the same time meeting design objectives of the developers.

Destin Library –this 13,136 SF library for the City of Destin fits comfortably on a heavily wooded site filled with live oaks and reflects the fishing and boating heritage of the city while fitting into a residential environment.  The facility was awarded a 2005 Honor Award for Design Excellence from the Florida AIA.

Bay County/GCCC Emergency Operations Center -This joint-use facility will be shared by both Bay County and Gulf Coast Community College, with 50,000 SF of space which can be used interchangeably.  Smart classrooms, computer labs, offices, storage, and workrooms will be used by the college to train emergency personnel, and Bay County’s Emergency Management personnel will have offices there.

Okaloosa Island Public Safety Center – this facility was designed not only to provide a firehouse for the area, but also to house other local government agencies who could coordinate their efforts during natural disasters such as a hurricane. The second floor contains offices for fire inspectors, emergency management personnel and equipment, and a sheriff substation.

South Walton Fire District Main Station – Designed to withstand Category 3 hurricane force winds and to provide an operations center for the fire district during natural disasters, this station includes administrative offices for the fire district, an EMS headquarters and emergency vehicles and crews, a firehouse with bunkrooms, day rooms, training facilities, kitchen and dining areas, and a four-bay apparatus garage.

NatureWalk Welcome Center, Seagrove Beach - In keeping with NatureWalk’s location abutting a state forest and the project’s dedication to the natural environment, the Welcome Center sits on timber piles in a serene lagoon.  A two story entry foyer continues the theme inside and features a natural stone fireplace.  The Welcome Center received a 2007 Grand Aurora Award in the Commercial Building category from the Southeast Building Conference.

Airport Plaza Office Complex – this 20,000 SF office complex is comprised of four buildings located in the heart of Destin.  Completed in 1999, the project received an Honor Award for Excellence in Design from the Florida AIA. One of the four buildings serves as the main office of DAG Architects.

The Beach Club Condominiums and Clubhouse— this complex includes four towers and a central two-story clubhouse along the Gulf Coast in Fort Morgan, Alabama.  The clubhouse includes both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a health spa and fitness center, and a gourmet dining room and bar.

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation—The master plan for Phase I encompasses two major components:  a festival lawn and stage, and a multi-purpose building.  A future phase will include an artists’ village.  The lawn will seat 1,500 before a large, covered stage. The multi-purpose building  will house an information center, large group meeting spaces, arts classrooms, sculpture gardens, and an indoor performing arts theatre.

Village Baptist Church, Destin—Projects for the growing church included a master plan, a family life center, a new education building, and a fellowship hall.

Resurrection Catholic Church—Development of a master plan for the parish property in Miramar Beach included programming for a new sanctuary, narthex (gathering space), a labyrinth, future administrative offices, library, sacristies, Blessed Sacrament chapel, and music practice suite.  The plan had to accommodate all required square footage for new buildings, parking, and preservation of a nature area.

Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church—Projects included two master plans and a multi-celebration outdoor pavilion for this Niceville congregation.

Sunrise on the Sound, Fort Walton Beach—This mixed use marina development along the Gulf of Mexico is planned to include a 100 room hotel, a waterfront restaurant, a marine store and yacht sales office, a private owners club, and commercial office space.  The marina will include boat slips and a dry stack boat storage facility.  A public boardwalk along the waterfront will tie the different uses together, and the entire complex will be constructed to withstand the force of hurricane storm surges.

Legendary Marina Boat Owner’s Club, Destin-An existing structure is being renovated and significantly expanded on this marina property adjacent to the Mid-Bay Bridge in Destin.  When completed, the facility will include a new ship’s store, dining room and kitchen, a fitness and locker area, and a marina bar and lounge.

O’Sullivan Creel Office Building, Destin - This new 24,000 SF office building for the professional accounting firm of O’Sullivan Creel is being built behind their existing offices along Highway 98 in Destin.  Designed in the Florida coastal vernacular with large roof overhangs and light colored materials, the building includes a roof terrace deck leading from the third floor training facilities, enclosed and open offices, a kitchen, reception areas, and conference rooms.
