This joint-use facility will be shared by both Bay County and Gulf Coast Community College, with 50,000 SF of space which can be used interchangeably. Smart classrooms, computer labs, offices, storage, and workrooms will be used by the college to train emergency personnel, and Bay County’s Emergency Management personnel will have offices there. During a disaster or major storm event, the entire hardened building will be turned over to the County to operate as their emergency operations center.
Among the facilities provided for emergency and training use are a command center, a 911 dispatch area, a Homeland Security Office, and a press room. A food service area, lounges, wellness center, locker room and showers, parking and a helipad are also part of the complex.
