NW FL State College Observatory

Located in a wooded area of the Okaloosa-Walton Community College campus, this observatory, which won an Unbuilt Design Award from Florida AIA, has energized an expanded astronomy department.  The building was designed to provide students and visitors a sense of a satellite in orbit revolving about the vertical shaft of the telescope tower.  To complete the journey to the reflecting telescope one ascends a spiraling staircase.
