Workman Middle School New Gymnasium

Pensacola, Florida
The new Workman middle school gymnasium offers students and staff the space needed to enhance their physical education program while boosting school spirit with branding and a bright aesthetic.

In 2016, DAG Architects added a new free-standing gymnasium to serve Workman Middle School students.  The building consists of a combination of prefabricated metal building and conventional construction and will be connected to the existing school with new covered walkways.  The 18,000 SF gymnasium includes bleacher seating for 1,000 students and provides spaces to support class instruction, athletic competitions, weight training, fitness classes, film viewing, and cheerleading practice.  A concession area, storage areas, restrooms, lobby and vestibule spaces are also included.  Because the building was constructed on a site previously used for basketball courts, new courts and parking will be provided.  The building is designed to meet Green Globe sustainability standards.
