Bo Diddley Plaza

DAG worked closely with the Gainesville CRA on a redesign of the downtown Bo Diddley Plaza to create an attractive, lively place for people to enjoy both day and night activities. Located in a historic area near the courthouse, the redesign took inspiration from the farmer’s market and concert events which drew pedestrians to the area. A café with indoor and outdoor seating, a staffed information kiosk, a new bus shelter with a canopy and softer landscaping served to invigorate the entertainment area. An interactive water feature became a defining element at the entrance to the park, highlighted by special lighting. Planned pathways and informative signage promote an attractive environment that supports the various events and activities of the Plaza. An existing amphitheater was updated to include new restrooms, dressing rooms, storage and a green room for performers.
